Fucking Desis, I have seem it all. Myself being Indian, I am really surprised how such retro people have survived in the USA for so long. USA is all about integration atleast that is why I came to the US. But man my Desi people still dont get what USA is except for it’s Dollar

it was nice enough article…..and ms venisha does seem well intentioned….but i personally am resilient to smiling at strangers. for ME : a smile means i like you and “i’m your friend” and a smile is an invitation to interact. it unnerves me when someone passes by and grins like a cheshire cat, when they clearly do not intend to interact w/ me. i avoid this situation by not making eye contact, but if eye contact occurs & someoen smiles/ i will acknowledge them politely by either nodding my head at them or wishing them a good morning /evening. i see no reason to light up my face for a total stranger; that is reserved for introductions and for those i already know. an exception is when i’m at a place of business and the merchant/ shop associate / purveyor / vendor whatever smiles at me : they are attempting to start a (business relationship) and welcoming me into their place of enterprise. so a smile makes sense and is called for under those circumstances. i will usually smile at such people when paying, or leaving, or completing a transaction to let them know i appreciate their hospitality. but random smiling at total strangers is inappropriate and CHEAPENS the value of a REAL smile ! in my humble opinion, and by the way : i was adopted from inda and raised in US by indian father and euro mother and i assure you neither of them went around flashing their teeth at strangers, it just isnt appropriate !!!!
