ONE BOOK THAT CHANGED YOUR LIFE
World Atlas: When I was 7, I made a sexist comment on my cousin. She hit me with a hard-bound world atlas so hard that till now I never made a sexist comment again, even as a joke. But, seriously:
Games People Play by Eric Berne: After reading this book I started looking at people, situations and conversations differently.
But, seriously:
Stephen Jay Gould’s Hen’s Teeth and Horse’s Toes (mostly because I didn’t understand it the first time). It’s a mesmerizing book with juicy facts about theory of evolution.
Survive on a Desert Island: Of course
Playboy: Not only do you find pseudo-intellectual interviews of women with enough silicone in them to be qualified by FAA as a flotation device but you also find ironic quizzes such as “Are you completely truthful in your relationship†knowing very well that half the demographic that reads Playboy never admits to reading it.But, seriously:
Code of Woosters by P.G.Wodehouse: It not only made me laugh uncontrollably until tears trickled down my cheeks but also amused people around me immensely because I was reading the book on a crowded train in India.
But, seriously:
Pickwick Papers by Charles Dickens: The mastery over language and the subtle but scathing sarcasm always made me wish I could write like that.
Kama Sutra: Because of that incoherent book, now every time I meet a dimwit who goes, “Ohhh India, the land of Kama Sutra†I have to explain that Kama Sutra is a piece of junk with laughable content. India produced much better things than that. 90% of Indians never read Kama Sutra. The only interesting things in the book are the photographs of the white people doing it circus-style.But, seriously:
Echo Heron’s Intensive Care: The Story of a Nurse: It’s an autobiography of a nurse and about the tales of the Emergency Room. Must read for any sucker for medical stories.
But, seriously:
Michael Crichton’s State of Fear: I am a fan of Michael Crichton. Haven’t gotten around to reading this on yet.
I tag:
If you are not tagged here, don’t celebrate yet. I have more tags coming.
Update:
The following people are also tagged:

wow..neat list……
“women with enough silicon in them to be qualified by FAA as a flotation device” HAHAHA….. Hilarious.
Your wife’s diary, which apparently has a lot of good stuff about you, also seems to have a lot of the good stuff crossed out. Have you been naughty??
Will do the tag, but it’s gonna take some time to round up all those books!
Pickwick papers…. superbly written.. can second u there…
Well.. checkbooks make my hubby cry too.. am an what he calls an “expensive investment”
Love Crichton’s “Lost world” the best.. love his theory of evolution (the first chapter)
Others in my list are:
I love Archer’s short stories, I still read archies, asterix and tintin…. have to admit am waiting for the last Harry Potter…. and I hate going thru fashion magazines (makes me feel inadequate)
ANd most importantly… I love this post of urz!
Great tag very Funny! Its really hard to hold on your readers as people always expect two things from a narration at all times: 1) the content that can be very interesting or good enough to hold back or 2) the humour that is so great that people love to read more
Your writing have it as 2) and 1) in the ratio of 60:40 Keep that up!
Great list!!! Especially the one that makes you cry…
The one that makes me cry is: The Little Golden Book compilation…
If I have to read the “Poky Little Puppy” one more time….
(I haven’t thought of what I’ll do just yet…it’ll come to me)
This IS a great post! Every single one of your “tongue-in-cheek” picks cracked me up!
On the Games People Play note, I like one called Reading People, by Joe-Ellan Dimitrius and Mark Mazzarella. (Subtitle: How to understand people and predict their behavior, anytime, anyplace” a science actually used by jury selectors.
hey…thanks for the tag…i just got 3 book tags…all in a neat row! lol!
will do them soon…not in a row!
the checkbook part cracked me up…
by the way, which story book is your child’s favorite? The kids I work with are currently hooked onto Goldilocks!
I liked what you did with that! Fun!
hey twisted dna thanks for checking out my blog. interesting post. i like your sense of humor.

Nice…I like it.
Thaz a wonderful tag!!!!
I agree how many have ever read KS book rather laughing at PB.
Games ppl’ play is my favo’ too.
Love your list, and just when I was looking for something new to read
Ive read the harry potter series more than once, more then 10 times i think.
Books that make me cry are written by Daniel steel,( not because they are sad ).
Book i wish which was never written is, lord of the flies by William Golding.
actually make it, ‘ book i wish William could better ‘! he really needs to better it, otherwise the book has a very good moral.
was reading state of fear till the OA came along making sad faces. Proof of my love for him that for the first time in my life I stopped reading a book halfway and gave it to him because he only gets weekends to read on. just saw him fast asleep with it open on his face. damn, could have kicked him!
You made this such an interesting and humerous post. loved it. you truly have such a good sense of humor and know how to put it in writing. thats the hard part. I think the check book makes my husband cry also. Its so true about the silicone stuff. especially living in california..its all around you.
Hey…even I have the disney story book collection!Though I dont read it myself….hubby dear reads the stories to me..but isnt it awesome!
LMAO!! Love the comentary on Playboy. Sooo true.

varsha, anu, la vida loca, liz:
Thanks guys.
video:
I think the crossed out parts are the things I told her before marriage
aparna:
You have a pretty nice list too. You are also added to the tag
indianangel:
That’s so nice of you
mary poppins:
Haha! Ya, those stories do get on your nerves after 100th time
gnightgirl:
Didn’t read that one! Sounds quite interesting though
dilnavaz:
Actually, I don’t read many story books for him. I make up stories as I go based on what current favorite words are. For example, one day we have a tree that have jam fruit and bread leaves and other day we have streams of milk. He loves these customized stories
how do we know:
I did that one in your comments.
the agony aunt:
Glad to be of service. Will do my best to provide more/better stuff
nida:
You have a pretty good list too. Consider yourself added to the tag.
the mad momma:
Haha. Now I realize that my wife and I having complete differnt tastes in books is actually goood thing
starry nights:
I have to thank you for the tag. Ya, siliconne is all around you. I have a friend who claims he can exactly who are read and who are silicone but there is no way to find out how good his skill is
ekta:
You and my son would be very good friends
anand:
I think you mistook my first book mention for “Atlas Shrugged.” From the name of your blog, I already know you loved Atlas Shrugged
Darn…no mention of Harry Potter! U just went off my favorite blogger list. Hmmmmph.
state of fear…..not worth it!!
turned out to be a major disappointment!!
Hi! Actually, am not schizophrenic about my privacy.. just think that people should not be bored with my Bio D details!!
** after my wife went out shopping with it.
ROFL!
U know ppl r so obsessed with the Kama Sutra over here…they even give it as wedding presents lol!
Keshi.
hahaha this is a great post .. nice that you bring up childhood memories (atlas)
LOL on Playboy & Kamasutra…so true ..
freespirit:
Damn. Now I will have to invent a Harry Potter tag just to get back on your favorite blogger list
nithya:
Hmm.. Michael Crichton did deliver some lemons. I hated Prey. I hope it won’t turn out to be like that
how do we know:
Haha. That’s my reason for not talking about myself too
Keshi:
Imagine this conversation in India, “Honey, you never had sex. I never had sex. Why don’t we start with this snake-mongoose position?”
Kama Sutra as a wedding gift? It might work in countries like Australia. Not in India though
Nabeel:
Ya, we all remember our childhood traumatic experiences, don’t we
Shankari:
Thanks
Hi…Loved your post..its too good actually….you have a great sense of humour
**Why don’t we start with this snake-mongoose position?”
hahahahahahahaha I cant stop laughing!!!
Keshi.
