Look out!
Published July 5th, 2006When I was driving the other day, the driver behind me caught my attention. My thought process was something like:
It’s a woman
Oh! It’s an Asian woman
Oh my god! It’s an Asian woman on cell phone
Holy Crap! It’s an Asian woman on cell phone checking her make-up in the mirror.
I can’t think of a more dangerous combination on the road. I would treat such combination with the same respect I would treat an 18-wheeler going 100mph with no breaks carrying 10,000 gallons of gas. I would get the hell out of the way!
Ok, ok! I don’t believe women are worse drivers than men. But what are stereotypes for if you can’t make fun of people?
Not all Asians are bad drivers either. Some of them don’t drive.

[+] I am excited that the Phoenix probe successfully landed safely and peacefully on Mars. Or, as Ms. Hilary Clinton would put it, “It landed under heavy sniper fire.” [1 comment]
[+] Two girls scouts are protesting girl scout cookies because they say they are endangering some species. If you looked at the nutrition information of the cookies they sell, you would agree that one of the endangered species is mankind. [0 comments]
[+] According to this news item the definition of rape has been widened. If a woman refuses sex in the middle of the act, the rest of the act is considered rape. I guess she can re-accept sex making it consensual again. Don’t be surprised if you see criminal cases with the following description: “She went to his place at 8:00PM. They had coffee. They had sex from 8:30PM to 8:54PM. He raped her from 8:55PM to 9:01PM. Then she reluctantly agreed to sex. So, technically, he partially raped her from 9:02PM to 9:15PM. They both had dinner. Later they had sex after he briefly raped her.” [6 comments]
[+] Pentagon admitted that they accidentally shipped missile parts to Taiwan. Be assured that US is not in the business of selling arms. It might so happen that Taiwan may accidentally ship some money to US in the future. Who knows what accidents happen. [1 comment]
[+] Sarah Jessica Parker is whining that she won the “Unsexiest Woman Alive” award from Maxim readers. If you ask me, she should be quite glad that she didn’t win the “Unsexiest Horse” award. [2 comments]

u’ve done da rite thing by gettin outta her way. i agree women r bad drivers(no offence,.. i dont mean that they r so dumb n incapable, but they concentrate more on other issues while drivin).
But ive neva heard dat asians r bad drivers.asians have won many titles in WRC if im not mistaken.
anyways I loved the last line of ur post…thats my kindof sarcasm.
HEY! 27 years of driving, no accidents, and only 1 speeding ticket here. [I’m going to get creamed on the way home, now that I wrote that.]
I’m embarrased to admit that crazy asian drivers are the one stereotype that I can’t shake. It’s not like oh…losing track of whose turn it is at a 4-way stop, it’s all straddling the center line and driving on the sidewalks, and crashing through the walls at the DMV (that really did just happened here this summer).
Harsha: “But ive neva heard dat asians r bad drivers”
You just have to drive about a mile in the bay area
gnightgirl: “27 years of driving no accidents”
Wow! That’s an amazing record. Nothing can jinx that record. Me, 9 years no accidents so far.
gnitegirl ..
I always wanted meet the person who hit the DMV ..
Asians and driving never go well .. Hmm well after driving a week in here CA .. I would end up with some road rage .. People here donot what the hell they are doing if you are doing speed limit .. Move the hell out in the slow lane .. Let people pass you ..
./thanks

Had a similar conversation with a girl (who is yet to learn how to drive), but she doesnt want to admit that asian-woman driving means double dhamaka
I asked her to check back with me once she learns how to drive.
R = rOya?
Now whats KLPT

Here in Puerto Rico it is our daily bread:
Puerto Rican woman on the phone, putting on eyeliner and feeding their kids breakfast on the freeway…
Nothing like a life-threatening obstacle course to get ya’ going in the morning!
@Ilay: What? There is speed limit in CA?
@mary poppins: “feeding their kids” LOL. That would be a sight to see
Women Asisan drivers scare me.
very funny - I hate to steroetype, but I probably would have put my hazzards on, pulled over, and waited five minutes before re-entering traffic to avoid the inevitable accident that was soon to ensue.

i ve had so many debates (arguments) with my female friends and i was always able to prove it in the end.. Women and driving are not made for each other..
I notice most of your blogs that take a dig at someone/something have either a disclaimer or an apology at the end
Now that’d be too subtle to be an intentional subtle sarcasm on PC, wouldn’t it?

ROFL! That sounds like a more appropriate thing to do

Of couse you are not going to say it on a date or something, are you?
gauri:
You do have a keen observation! Some times I do make fun of people even though I don’t believe in a certain stereotype. So at the end, I make it clear to them that I don’t mean the jabs I took. It’s a lesson I learnt in real life. People do have a certain amount of sense of humor, I just need to be careful not to offend them too much.
I really liked the way you look at things. Please do visit again!
